Petition to Wear My Pajamas Everywhere

Let’s start a revolution, friends!

Why pajamas? you ask. Why now? Because I want to! And there is simply no better reason. Also, because I didn’t do laundry for quite some time, and my barren closet forced me over to my pajama drawer.

When I say pajamas, I don’t mean those flimsy silk things that alternate as slips a la Jennifer Garner in 13 Going On 30, or that pair of chic plaid pajamas your mom bought for you on sale at Macy’s for your annual holiday photo. Those are much too refined, and some of us don’t have their lives put together enough to own real pajamas, so lay off.

This campaign (campaign, revolution, whatever you will) revolves around those weird (amazing) oversized t-shirts you wear when no one is around, or when you’re comfortable enough with your significant other to not wear makeup to bed (mazel!).

Benefits: ‘Oversized’ means layers. I paired this tee with a gray J. Crew turtleneck. They’re thin and amazing for throwing on under a dress or the shirt you woke up in 15 minutes ago. Also, you just opened up at least a third of your clothes to the esteemed club of ‘everyday wear,’ an especially life-changing moment when you find yourself staring at your closet for over 25 minutes every morning.

But what about my flimsy slips and my esteemed plaid pajama set? Well don’t you have your life together! Don’t fret, my fancy friend: Snag a turtleneck and throw your silky negligée on top, or tuck the top of your pajama set into high-waisted jeans. Pajamas are not only for the night. They are, in fact, for life.
